430

Grade 430 (UNS S43000, EN 1.4016) is the most widely used family of Ferritic alloys. It is known for its good corrosion resistance to numerous substance, excellent stress, and formability, coupled with practical mechanical properties.

Grade 430 has excellent resistance to citric and nitric acid, sulfur gases; slightly less corrosion and heat resistant than Types 301, 302, and 304. It can be used in certain chemical applications.

Grade 430 is a magnetic stainless steel. It can be formed using a large variety of roll forming or mild stretch-bending operations, as well as the more common drawing and bending processes. The steel has limited weldability and should not be used in the as welded condition for dynamic or impact loaded structures.

PROPERTIES

Grade 430 Grade Stainless is one of widely used ”non-hardenable” stainless good physical and mechanical characteristics, about three-quarters the ductility of low carbon strip and inferior to chrome-nickel grades; cost less than chromium-nickel stainless steels. The 430 grade stainless steel properties are following below:

  • Good corrosion and oxidation resistance
  • Can be readily fabricated by cold working
  • Excellent formability
  • Low costs
  • Magnetic
  • Thermal conductivity and finish quality

RAW MATERIAL FINISHS
2D

A dull finish which results from cold rolling followed by annealing and descaling, and may perhaps gets a final light roll pass through unpolished rolls. A 2D finish is used where appearance is not a concern.

2B
(Mill Finish)

A bright, cold-rolled finish resulting in the same manner as 2D finish, except that the annealed and descaled sheet received a final light roll pass through polished rolls. This is the general-purpose cold-rolled finish that can be used as is, or a preliminary step to polishing.

BA
(Bright Anneal)

The bright annealed mill surface is obtained by annealing the material under an atmosphere, so that scale is not produced on the surface.
