The US Supreme Court declined an appeal of some US-based steel importers, including subsidiaries of Colmar, Pennsylvania-based Dorman Products Inc and Turkish steel producer Borusan Mannesmann, regarding their challenge to steel import tariffs under the scope of Section 232, according to a report by Reuters.
The case was appealed by the importers after a lower court ruling rejecting their challenge.
Meanwhile, according to a report by the US International Trade Commission, on average from 2018 to 2021, US importers bore nearly the full cost of these tariffs because import prices increased at the same rate as the tariffs.
In addition, Borusan Mannesmann and its US-based subsidiary Borusan Mannesmann Pipe US lost their appeal for exemption from the US Section 232 tariffs, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
