Japan bans steel and aluminum exports to Russia

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has announced that the country has decided to ban exports of steel and steel products to Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine, in order to contribute to international efforts for international peace. The ban will enter into force on April 7, 2023.
Exports of aluminum, construction equipment and aircraft are also prohibited.
In March this year, Canada banned imports of all Russian steel and aluminum products to cut off or limit the revenue used to fund Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
