Indian domestic steel producers have sought government intervention in the matter of rising imports and the reimposition of antidumping duties on flat steel products and wire rod, according to a representation submitted to the government by the India Steel Association (ISA), the representative body of domestic steel companies, on Tuesday, April 11.
In a communication to the ministry of finance, the ISA has sought antidumping duties to be levied on hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled coil (CRC), color coated flat steel products and alloy and non-alloy wire rods.
It may be noted that antidumping duties on imported HRC and CRC expired on December 15, 2021, and AD duties on color coated flat steel products and wire rod expired on January 2022.
India’s steel imports surged by 30 percent to 6 million mt in the fiscal year 2022-23, as per government data.
