The German steel and metalworking industry federation Wirtschaftsverband Stahl-und Metallverarbeitung (WSM) has called on the German government to cap electricity prices at €0.04/kWh.
Noting that the discussed industrial electricity price of €0.06/kWh will only be for energy-intensive companies, the federation stated that the price cap must include all industrial companies, to get away from fossil energy and become competitive.
In addition, according to the statement, orders received by medium-sized companies in the steel and metal industries fell by 16 percent year on year in the first quarter this year.
